Top marks for Price Bailey Tax

Charlotte Page, an Associate in the Price Bailey Tax Team, has been awarded ‘The Gravestock Medal’ for achieving the highest mark in the November 2017 sitting of the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) VAT paper

A total of 1,546 papers were taken in the November sitting with only 91 distinctions awarded for outstanding performance. Charlotte sat two exams, Business Taxation and Accounting Principles and VAT, and picked up distinctions in both.

Dr Charlotte Page already has an impressive academic track record having attained a PhD in Maths from the University of East Anglia before commencing her career at Price Bailey, joining as a tax Trainee in April 2016. Following the completion of her ATT qualification, she plans to undertake the Chartered Institute of Tax (CTA) qualification.

The Gravestock Medal will be awarded to Charlotte at the prize winner’s dinner, to be held at Royal Artillery Hall in London later this year, a highly prestigious event in the academic calendar.

Charles Olley, Partner at Price Bailey in Cambridge commented: “Charlotte has already been promoted during her short career at Price Bailey from Tax Trainee to Tax Associate, a mark not only of her academic ability but also her commerciality and excellent work ethic.”

“We are thrilled for Charlotte; she is an incredibly capable student and applies her skill in the workplace. Her role consists of supporting our senior team advising on VAT and direct tax work for owner managed businesses and we look forward to seeing her grow in her role alongside further exam success.”

Price Bailey has experienced sustained growth in recent years, both by strategic acquisitions and by delivering relevant and focused advice.  Managing Director Martin Clapson believes “Price Bailey’s success is down to our two greatest assets, our clients and our staff. With people like Charlotte on board we are very confident for the future.”

When asked what she likes most about tax Charlotte says, “I was interested in tax because I am very analytical and enjoy problem solving, with a keen interest in the law. Tax combines my mathematical abilities with my interest in the law, and gives me an opportunity to problem solve in real life situations.”

“The team I work with at Price Bailey are fantastic and have been very supportive throughout my studies. The guidance I’ve received has been a big contributing factor in my academic success.”
