TWI Certification Ltd launches new NORSOK M-650 certification

TWI Certification Ltd has launched a new third-party Certification of Manufacture of Special Materials (CMSM) to allow companies to show compliance with the requirements of NORSOK M-650. The CMSM scheme uses highly qualified and experienced assessors to review all aspects of quality control and execution of manufacturing procedures to ensure that products are delivered with consistent properties.

TWI Certification Ltd use specialist registered assessors to provide independent verification of a manufacturer’s competence and capability. This independent certification assures compliance and capability in advance of a formal contract or product order, giving confidence to customers. CMSM third-party certification alleviates the need for supplier audits, reducing the time and effort that customers have to expend in assessing suppliers.

Emma Freckingham, Company Certification Manager at TWI Certification Ltd said, “Certification in accordance with this scheme is independent assurance of a manufacturer’s competence and experience to manufacture the relevant material grades and product forms stated in the CMSM and Qualification Test Record (QTR) schedule.”

Emma continued, “The intention is that a QTR accepted by one customer is also accepted by other customers, within the scope of essential variables certified. CMSM provides impartial, third-party assessment of the control of manufacturing, competence and capability leading to entry on the Register of Certified Companies held by TWI CL.”

TWI Certification Ltd has already issued the first CMSM certificate to West Special Fasteners Ltd to independently show their manufacturing routes for super duplex stainless steel hexagon bolts, setscrews, socket capscrews, studbolts and hexagon nuts are in accordance with manufacturing requirements.

Speaking on this first CMSM certification, Emma Freckingham said, “We are delighted that West Special Fasteners Ltd has gained the first CMSM certificate, and we are looking forward to supporting other manufacturers who are required to demonstrate their control of product quality in accordance with M-650.”
