The team at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity is inviting you to glow bright at their memory walk on Saturday 13 May. Sponsored by Gibbs Denley Insurance Services, the annual Star Shine Stroll memory walk - which raised an impressive £50,000 last year – sees hundreds of supporters, walk 6.5 or 10 miles together around Cambridge’s historic town centre and countryside as dusk falls around them.

The Charity is encouraging both new and familiar faces to sign up early, after the 2016 event very nearly reached its maximum capacity of 500 walkers. The walk will once again start and finish at Shelford Rugby Club. The full map of this year’s route will be confirmed soon: in previous years, the picturesque night walk has taken in historic highlights such as the famous Backs and Kings College, alongside beautiful parts of the City.

Marketing and Events Officer, Tasha Hills adds: “The Star Shine Stroll memory walk has a particularly special atmosphere with many people walking in memory of someone they love. There is a real sense of community, celebration and even magic as participants walk together and share their very personal reasons for taking part. Our walkers do make a special effort to come dressed for the occasion and we are excited to see how creative everyone becomes with this year’s ‘Twinkle twinkle little stars – glow bright’ theme – I am sure there will be a fantastic assortment!”

Those who register before Good Friday on 14 April, will also be entered into a very special early bird prize draw to win a Maserati Ghibli for a day, worth over £300 courtesy of Marshall Maserati of Peterborough. Monique Almond of Marshall Maserati, comments: “Marshall Maserati are happy to support such a worthwhile charity again this year after the success in working together previously. The Maserati Ghibli is a stunning vehicle which oozes Italian style and charisma. It has an understated elegance but, with the roar of its V6 engine, certainly lets its presence be known! The Ghibli has history and character, and we know without doubt it will put a smile on the lucky winner’s face!” *

Alongside corporate sponsorship from Gibbs Denley Insurance Services and polkadotfrog, the memory walk’s £15 early bird entry fee helps to cover the costs of the event, with those taking part receiving a hot drink and bacon roll, registration pack, medal and t-shirt. Whilst not essential, many walkers choose to raise sponsorship individually or in groups for Arthur Rank Hospice Charity to help fund the essential services which the Hospice provides to 2000 people each year who are living with a life-limiting illness in Cambridgeshire.

To sign up to take part, or for further information please visit http://www.starshinestroll.co.uk or join the event’s Facebook Page for the latest news, information and Star Shine Stroll chat.

If you would like to volunteer to help the Charity with safety or refreshments on the evening, please contact Tasha Hills on 01223 675886 or tasha.hills@arhc.org.uk

*The lucky winner must have a full driving licence, held for longer than 12 months, with no more than 6 points and the prize must be claimed by 13 November 2017.
