The Device Developers' Conference is a one-day conference for computer scientists, electronic engineers and designers that work in the development of intelligent systems and devices. The event consists of technical workshops, presentations and an exhibition, providing an important opportunity for engineers and vendors to share knowledge and explore new technologies.
"The concept of multiple locations for this event is proving worthwhile," said Richard Blackburn of Energi Technical Limited, who organise the event. "Developers working in the hi-tech sector are often busy people working under a lot of pressure, so having four locations around the UK, on four different dates, makes it much easier for them to attend on a day of their choosing, without having to travel too far."
This year's inaugural event, which took place in May, was supported by 38 companies that exhibited, gave technical presentations, and hosted ½ day workshops; it was attended by more than 170 engineers, computer scientists and developers. The companies that sponsored the 2013 event included realtime software companies Wind River and QNX, debug tool companies Lauterbach and Reflex Technologies, hardware manufacturers Blue Chip Technology and Hitex, and software analysis tool companies Phaedrus Systems, PRQA and LDRA.
"Our intention is to try to build on the success of the 2013 event," said Richard. "We are planning more half-day workshops, as we can see that engineers really value this opportunity to learn new techniques and gain knowledge from industry experts.”
The 2014 event is also planned to include both software and hardware presentation streams. Some key topics are expected to include ASIC/FPGA development, DSP development, Android development, PCB design and test, data management and security, Enclosure Design, realtime operating systems and GUI/HMI development."
