Zen was founded in 1995 by Richard Tang and his brother. The ethos of Zen is to fundamentally create “happy staff”, “happy customers” and happy suppliers. Richard’s personal belief in people coming before profit has led the business to join the growing list of socially responsible companies that are committed to having a positive impact on the environment and society.
Zen’s now the oldest internet service provider in the UK having outlasted the likes of: Freeserve, Pipex and Demon internet; all of whom have been acquired by larger corporate organisations.
Richard says by remaining the sole shareholder of his business, he can ensure his company remains true to it’s people-centred values. He states that despite buy-out offers he is committed to never selling the company.
