This blog is going to use a different tactic. We won’t bother trying to convince you that websites with videos convert exactly 31% more browsers to sales, nor that your site dwell time will definitely increase by at least two minutes if you use video.
What we will do, however, is talk about trend. Because in the case of using video as part of your online marketing and web offering, the rise in usage and popularity of video is absolutely undeniable.
Thanks to tech-evolution, internet speeds across pretty much all formats are increasing dramatically around the world at the moment. 4G is making mobile browsing as fast as wifi, and media-friendly devices are starting to saturate the market. It plays into media owners’ hands – and the consumer’s. We like being able to watch films, TV programmes and – in some cases – highly amusing videos of cats. And goats.
There are more and more video sharing sites being widely used now too, such as YouTube, vimeo, vine and more. It’s easy to embed videos in your Facebook posts, and via Twitter – it’s becoming as easy as posting a photo. And it’s getting easier every day.
All of which means of course that video is a much more viable medium for marketing than it was just a few years ago.Oh – and we now offer a video production service. Did we make that clear?
So here is our little summary (practically statistic free) to let you know why we think video is a Good Thing.
- It’s personal. Or it can be. It can show a really funny, human or little-known side to your product or service, and can help customers feel they’re sharing the experience with you
- It’s visual. Which sounds obvious – but think how easily you can show off product features, or how much more information you can get across quickly. If a picture’s worth a thousand words, imagine how many a video could rack up.
- It’s everywhere. It’s so easy to share videos these days – your message can go further than you think
- It’s engaging. Video keeps people on your site longer. As David Brent might say: “Fact.”
- It’s persuasive. Sales go up when you use video on your site or in your marketing.
- It’s actually helpful. It helps increase SEO and makes your site easier to find.
- It’s cheaper than you think.
So – what are your thoughts about using video?
