Cambridge, 22 September 2025 — Virgin Media O2 is using IQGeo’s new AI-powered network intelligence to accelerate customer connections, expedite fault repairs and improve the dependability of its fibre service. Computer vision technology from IQGeo’s recent acquisition of Deepomatic ensures that network build and repair work is completed right first time, enabling the operator to activate new connections faster and restore service sooner.
In the field, VMO2’s engineers and contractors photograph the infrastructure tasks they have just completed, such as installing new street cabinets, laying fibre ducts or splicing connections. The AI compares these images against network design specifications before sign-off. By combining AI analysis with IQGeo’s Network Manager Telecom software, the integrated solution will enable verified results to flow directly into VMO2’s network records to create a continuously accurate network digital twin.
When records are wrong, customers feel the impact through delayed connections and slower fault repairs. A missing fibre splice or a wrongly positioned cabinet can waste hours of engineer time and extend the wait for service. These issues often come from manual data entry and inconsistent contractor practices over time. By validating every update at the point of work, IQGeo’s AI will ensure only accurate information enters the system, so customers benefit from faster, more reliable service.
“Inaccurate network data slows everything down, from fixing faults to connecting new customers” said Kerry Casey-Foulkes, Director of Transformation Enablement at Virgin Media O2. “With AI running real-time quality checks in the field, we can stop poor-quality data ever entering our systems, delivering faster, more reliable service and creating a stronger foundation for growth.”
“Poor network data quality is one of telecom’s most pressing challenges” said Raf Meersman, SVP EMEA at IQGeo. “With AI, we’re turning field data into an accurate, up-to-date picture of the network that operators can rely on. That is how you reduce churn and win new subscribers in a highly competitive market.”
By embedding AI into network operations, Virgin Media O2 is laying the groundwork for advanced automation. Maintaining an always-accurate digital twin will enable faster scaling, more agile responses to market demand and sharper competitiveness as operators work to acquire and retain broadband customers.
