The charity, which offers essential support and care to disabled and older people, presented long service awards as part of National Volunteers Week.
Robert Wallace, volunteer programme manager at Papworth Trust, said: “It was wonderful presenting our volunteers with their awards to recognise long service and outstanding contribution.
“Each and every volunteer at our Bernard Sunley Centre head office, Huntingdon Centre and OWL Café and OWL Centre in Sawston make an amazing contribution to our service and we would like to say a huge well done and thank you to them all.”
Papworth Trust also handed out ‘Outstanding Volunteer Awards’ which were nominated by managers or people who have been supported by the charity – recognising volunteers’ ‘exceptional commitment and contribution’.
The charity also organised a competition encouraging volunteers, customers and staff to send in short stories, videos and photos about volunteering.
The competition was won by the OWL Centre after they produced a video explaining what they loved about their volunteers while Alastair Durrant was a runner-up after his poignant video explaining how the charity had helped him and why he now volunteered at Papworth Trust.
Robert added: “We had some absolutely brilliant entries which were so heart-warming to watch. They really highlighted how much volunteering means to not only the volunteer but also those people they help to support. We would also like to thank all the local businesses who supported our volunteering celebrations.”
