We are delighted to welcome the New Statesman as our first media partner. Don't miss their provocative debate in the Cambridge Union Chamber This house believes that young people have never had it so good, which will be chaired by Rafael Behr, Political Editor of the New Statesman.
Also joining us for the first time this year are FlipSide who are bringing a taste of their Brazilian festival of literature, music and art. Look out for our Viva Brazil events, which make the gentleless of nods towards the forthcoming 2014 World Cup, and includes author Alex Bellos talking about his classic exploration of Brazil's relationship to the beautiful game in his book Futebol.
This April we'll also be opening our doors to writers from all over the world. Novelists, historians, scienticists and children's authors, comedians and politicians will all come together in a six-day celebration of the written and spoken word.
Fiction highlights include our international guests, from New Zealander and Man Booker winner Eleanor Cattion to irish novelist Emma Donoghue and, from these shores, the amazing Jim Crace. We've also curatted a special strand of 'Remembrance' events so that we can commemorate the centenary of the beginning of the First World War; at its heart is a rare public performance by Pat Barker, a hugely acclaimed chronicler of the conflict.
We have lots for children too, with a welcome return for Jacqueline Wilson and a first visit from teen horror favourite Darren Shan.
We hope you enjoy the festival as much as we have enjoyed pulling it all together.
Finally, we would like to welcome Cambridge Network members to take advantage of a special 10% discounted rate applicable to all festival events.
