Wells Contract consolidates in Cambridge

Wells Contract, the Cambridge-based supplier of hospitality furniture to leading multinationals and retail chains, is to purchase a new 3.5 acre manufacturing and warehousing facility in Cambridgeshire following £200,000 in funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

Founded in 2013 by Patrick Wells, Wells Contract supplies contract furniture to the hospitality and leisure sectors with final customers including Carnival Cruises and Vodafone, plus many high street restaurant groups. Patrick also owns Helo Childcare Products, a specialist designer and developer of infant highchairs which are used by businesses such as KFC, Pizza Hut, Greene King, J D Wetherspoons and McDonalds throughout the UK and France.

The funding from Santander Corporate & Commercial will allow both Wells Contract and Helo Childcare Products to be eventually consolidated into one location. This will both save on costs, and also the opportunity to cross-sell to each businesses’ customer bases.

Patrick Wells left school to join the Royal Navy Reserve where he served for five years whilst he completed an apprenticeship in gilding and marquetry. He then became a sales manager, marketing manager and eventually Managing Director of an international contract furniture business.

Patrick Wells, Owner, Wells Contract Ltd, said: “These are incredibly exciting times for both businesses as we seek to bring both under one roof and maximise sales. The new location will allow us to increase efficiencies and Santander’s support throughout this process has been invaluable.”

Jon Humphreys, Relationship Director, Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: “Patrick and the team at Wells Contract have a clear vision for the business and are dedicated to achieving their goals. Patrick is very experienced and well respected in the industry and we are confident that both businesses will continue to be extremely successful in the future.”
