But before you head over there to take a look, here are the highlights: The Yellow Brick Road Art Exhibition Established and emerging artists are showcasing their work and donating it for sale at this wonderful exhibition opening on Monday 4th June to Saturday 16th June at Michaelhouse Centre on Trinity Street, Cambridge, CB2 1SU. All sales are going to help local children in need and the apt theme for the exhibition is memory and childhood. This event is the brainchild of a new addition to our small team of volunteers, Lois Gillie-Andrews. Everyone is invited to the free opening event on Thursday 7th June from 6.30 - 8.30pm which will include a book sale, music from guitarist Humfry Finkel and a raffle, alongside the sale of the artwork. Refreshments will be provided. The artwork will stay on display until the close of the exhibition on Saturday 16th June. Citrix Portable Escape Room Challenge for Teams Software giant, Citrix are supporting us for the third year running and are taking their successful charity escape room concept from 2017 and updating it for us. More news will be announced soon but in the meantime, here is a flavour of what is to come. Teams will be invited to book the portable puzzle challenge which is great for employee engagement and giving back locally. Fifteen teams got involved from across business and academia last year. Can we better that in 2018? This approach will enable teams to 'borrow' the box beyond the 10th June thereby extending the fundraising period. Please see social media for updates. Children helping Children Art Exhibition at Byard Art We are delighted to announce that we are organising an art project inviting children in Cambridge to paint an A4 canvas and their finished pieces of artwork will be displayed at an exhibition at the Byard Art Gallery, King’s Parade, from the 8th -10th June, 2018. We have nearly 100 canvases to display and the talent is amazing. Tourists, locals, parents and family are all invited to come and visit the exhibition. The opening times are on the poster below. It would be wonderful if you could come and support the children's efforts. Afternoon tea at The Varsity Hotel What a setting to support local children's charities! The entire week from 2-10 June, The Varsity Hotel will be donating money for every afternoon tea served. Please book your places to avoid disappointment. How can you help? Lots of ways is the short answer: by sharing posts and news on Twitter and Facebook to raise awareness, by attending the events - a bit of dancing, art, puzzle challenges and tea, by signing up to receive our newsletter (they are written by time-starved volunteers so you won't be inundated!) and by volunteering to help. We are looking for highly motivated self-starters to create projects and run with them from start to finish with our support and team effort. Please do get in touch.
What is Cambridge Children’s Charity Week?
CCCW is an annual fundraising event which started in 2016. The goal of CCCW is to raise money to support some of the vital costs of the city's many charities and voluntary groups that help local children and young people.
To reflect the focus on children and young people the theme ‘Footsteps of the Future’ has inspired the look and feel of CCCW.
People living, studying or working in the city are invited to get involved and raise money for CCCW.
Although the focus of CCCW is in the first full week in June, fundraising can take place at any time to fit with other plans or activities.
All money raised is put into ‘The CCCW Fund’
The CCCW Fund, managed by Cambridgeshire Community Foundation (registered charity 1103314), makes grants focused on covering the core costs of the City’s many charities and voluntary groups that support local children and young people.
