Win an RE3 advanced single board computer at UK Device Developers’ Conference

Blue Chip offers their new RE3 and an Alpha Touchscreen embedded computer as prizes at the UK Device Developers' Conference.

Blue Chip Techology Ltd, a leading manufacturer of single board computers, has announced that it will be providing its recently released ARM Cortex based RE3 as a prize at the UK Device Developer's Conference. The RE3 is a small footprint (100mm x 70mm) single board computer that offers a fast performance, dual display and stunning graphics.

The Device Developers' Conference is a new annual event for engineers and designers involved in the development of intelligent systems and devices and will take place at Bristol, Cambridge and Manchester on the 14th, 16th and 22nd May respectively.

Alongside the RE3, Blue Chip is also offering one of their Alpha range of embedded computers with integrated 7 inch touchscreen displays. Both prizes provide a leading edge platform for embedded systems development, with support for Linux and Embedded Windows and a wide range of peripherals and connectivity support.

"These are exciting prizes for anyone exploring a new platform for embedded systems development," said Richard Blackburn, Event Organiser. "They both represent the very latest thinking in compact, low power, high performance embedded computing, enabling engineers to innovate and create competitive systems. Blue Chip will also be presenting and running a workshop, giving engineers the chance to learn about the latest thinking in device development and hardware choice.

The RE3 is available as a Cortex A9 Single Core, Dual Core and Quad Core, offering a PC level performance in a small space and low power. It has been designed to enable broad Internet connectivity such as GSM/GPRS, WiFi, Bluetooth, CAN, GPS and camera and video capabilities. The RE3 builds on the success of Blue Chip’s RE1 and RE2, and further extends the range of processing and peripheral options. It is anticipated that the RE3 will enable innovation in automotive, medical, digital signage, industrial control and similar sectors that require a 24/7 mission critical performance.

Blue Chip's Alpha range offers engineers a fast track product platform for any embedded system requiring a feature rich touch screen display, considerable processing power, ultra low power consumption and a robust performance. The new Alpha range offers fast boot times, 24/7 operations and is available with a range of processor cores, operating temperatures and OS choices. Standard connectivity includes LAN, quad USB Hosts, one USB Device, RS232 (with hardware handshaking), RS232 (Tx/Rx), RS422/485, Stereo Audio (input/output), twelve General Purpose IO signals plus Real Time Clock and battery. Options include dual Camera inputs, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, BlueTooth as well as GPRS/GSM, GPS and accelerometer. Blue Chip Offers RE3 Advanced Single Board Computer As Conference Prize

This year's event will feature informative half-day workshops, presentations introducing leading edge concepts and technologies and a vendor exhibition where engineers can get up to date with the latest tools and technologies available for future development. Sponsored by key industry tool and technology vendors, the Device Developers' Conference is free to engineers and managers working in the technical sector and every delegate can choose to be entered into the prize draw.

The companies exhibiting and presenting at The UK Device Developers' Conference include embedded software provider Wind River, German debug tools company Lauterbach, embedded systems development consultants Pebble Bay and development tools distributor SDC System. It is anticipated that up to 30 vendors will be exhibiting to demonstrate and explain their latest tools and technology.

The half-day workshops at this event will include ‘An Introduction to Advanced Debugging Techniques’,  ‘An Introduction to Device Driver Development’ and ‘Getting to Grips with the MISRA 3 Standard’.

Presentation titles include ‘Managing The Commercial Use of Linux’,  ‘Developing Reliable Embedded Software With a Defined Time Approach’ and ‘Developing Device Drivers for Embedded Systems’.
