It is 15 years since I rowed in the Boat Race, for the women’s reserve crew, Blondie. Getting into the boat that day was a pretty amazing experience. After the endless hours spent on the river, often in freezing conditions, we lost. It was crushing. But it turns out that that defeat was not the end of the story (though it felt like it at the time).
