The Nujira award, which includes a £1000 prize, was presented to Connel Hepburn who recently graduated from the M.Eng Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technical stream.
Selected by a panel of examiners and chosen on the basis of excellence in the field of analogue electronics, Connel was recognised for his first class mark in his project entitled: “Wireless control of blood glucose in Diabetes for the clinical ward”. The project saw Connel tasked with creating a solution for allowing an artificial pancreas unit, which is Bluetooth enabled, to roam freely in the clinical ward.
Nujira was founded on innovation and the company is keen to promote upcoming talent in analogue engineering and lend its support to the wider electronics industry through a range of initiatives that support the next generation of engineers.
Gerard Wimpenny, CTO of Nujira, who presented the award, commented: “It’s important to recognise the achievements of the young engineers of tomorrow and the Nujira award allows us to do just that. We’re sure that Connel has a bright future ahead of him and we’re pleased to be able to support him on the first step of this journey.”
About Nujira
A global wireless chip company headquartered in Cambridge, UK, Nujira is enabling the design of cost-effective multi-mode, multi-band mobile handsets that deliver faster data rates, longer battery life, and better coverage through the implementation of easy-to-use ET systems.
Nujira’s mission is to dramatically reduce the energy consumption of mobile devices, ultimately helping to increase battery life and reduce heat dissipation. The company’s patented Coolteq® Envelope Tracking chips dynamically modulate the power supply to the RF PA in line with the amplitude of the transmitted signal, enabling the creation of highly efficient RF Power Amplifiers for smartphones and other portable wireless devices.
Founded in 2002, Nujira’s tried and tested ET products have been leading the industry for the last 12 years. Employing over 60 people, Nujira is funded by leading European venture capital institutions and has gained significant ongoing commercial engagements with a number of leading smartphone manufacturers.
