There can often be a big distinction between how some people visibly and quickly rise in a workplace whilst others stay out of sight. The easy assumption to make is that they are not ready or capable. But when leadership potential goes unrecognised, it’s not always about lack of talent but can be a quiet accumulation of bias, assumptions, and outdated norms.
These subtle forces can shape who progresses, and who stays stuck just out of sight. This isn’t about developing people on their behalf but recognising the unnecessary barriers in their way and creating the space for them to grow on their own terms. Whether you’re leading a team, building culture, or shaping strategy, your ability to spot and support emerging leaders is essential for innovative and inclusive growth.
In this session we’ll explore:
- How confidence bias, affinity bias, and pace culture keep potential leaders hidden
- Why safe spaces for feedback and learning matter more than polished performance
- How to spot the talent that isn’t shouting, and make room for it to grow
- Tools to reframe support and shift from passive intent to active allyship
