BlueGnome Inc. is based at the company’s newly opened facility located a few miles outside of Washington DC, in the technology-rich Fairfax County area of Northern VA. The new North American headquarters will include a logistics facility to enable local fulfilment and invoicing of orders for the company’s expanding customer base in the region. It will also enable continued growth in the company’s organisation, which has more than tripled in the last 12 months with new hires in sales, business development, technical support and customer service.
Commenting on the launch BlueGnome CEO Nick Haan said “A logistics hub in close to Washington Dulles airport provides BlueGnome’s North American customers with a short supply chain and immediate access to informed customer service from our experienced scientists on the West, and now East, coast. Together with our facility in Singapore this confirms our position as a truly global player in molecular genetics.”
Dr Elena Kolomietz, Co-Head, Division of Diagnostic Molecular Genetics Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, confirmed, "Security of supply is increasingly important as we expand our use of microarrays into a growing number of applications. We welcome the news that BlueGnome will have a more substantial presence on this side of the Atlantic and will therefore be able to provide technical support and fulfilment of orders from within our time zone."
The launch of BlueGnome Inc. follows 5 years in which BlueGnome has consistently grown by at least 70% each year; a rate which has placed it in the UK’s top two growing biotechs for the last two years and which was recently recognised through the award of the Queen’s Award for International Trade.
