There'll be over 200 British real ales from over 100 breweries and 80 ciders and perries from near and far, along with the international bar, mead and wine. Cambridge CAMRA's cheese counter will be in its usual spot, with cheese from around Britain accompanied by pork pies, scotch eggs, olives, breads and more.
“Once again, we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to Jesus Green and our fantastic range of beers, ciders, mead and wine.” explains Neil McGovern, Festival Organiser. “Last year we had around 33,000 people attend, despite the biblical downpour. At the moment, the weather is looking dry and warm! However, even if it doesn’t hold out, out massive marquees make sure that the beer is still available for all to enjoy.”
Every year we have a theme – this year we’re celebrating the 50th anniversary of Monty Python’s Holy Grail. Keep an eye out for some beers brewed specially for this festival with suitable names! The posters, promotion and limited edition beer glasses all follow this theme, and as always, are highly collectable.
Additionally, this year we’re hosting the category rounds and semi-finals for the CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain. Some of the best beers in the UK will be judged in this competition and will be available for everyone to enjoy at the Festival. Results are expected to be announced at approximately 5pm on Tuesday 20th May. Each category winner will go through to the final at the Great British Beer Festival to be held at the NEC Birmingham, from 5-9 August.
As ever, the festival supports a charity every year. This year, we have chosen The Red Hen Project. Founded more than 26 years ago, the charity’s dedicated family workers provide hands-on support through home visits, as well as working with children in schools and their families in the community.
Finally, the festival is organised and run entirely by volunteers. Without those volunteers the festival wouldn't run.
