Prana Indian Restaurant, led by owner Kobir Ahmed, received the accolade at the LUXlife Restaurant and Bar Awards 2026, marking a significant milestone for the business which first opened its doors in 2016.

The award comes at a challenging time for the UK hospitality industry, with rising costs, staffing shortages and changing customer habits contributing to widespread restaurant closures across the country.

Despite these pressures, Prana has continued to grow its reputation as one of the best Indian restaurants in Cambridge, known for combining authentic Indian cuisine with a refined dining experience.

Owner Kobir Ahmed said the recognition reflects both the hard work behind the scenes and the resilience required to sustain a restaurant in today’s climate.

We’re incredibly proud to win this award, especially in the current environment. It’s not easy running a restaurant right now, and many great businesses haven’t made it through.
This is not just a celebration — it’s a reflection of resilience, consistency and the support we’ve had from the community.”

Marking the 10-year milestone, the restaurant has released a family image showing three generations behind the business — Kobir Ahmed alongside his father, Mohammad Quadir, and his eldest son, Rizwan Ahmed.

The image reflects the journey of the restaurant, from its early beginnings to becoming an established name within Cambridge’s dining scene.

Alongside the award, Prana is also celebrating another significant achievement — maintaining a 5-star Food Hygiene rating for 10 consecutive years, following its most recent inspection by an Environmental Health Officer (EHO).

Ahmed said maintaining high standards has always been a priority and a minimum expectation.

“Consistency is everything in this industry. Achieving a 5-star hygiene rating year after year is something we take extremely seriously — it’s just as important as any award.”

Located on Mill Road, Prana has built a strong following over the past decade, becoming known for its quality, service and attention to detail.

As it enters its next chapter, the restaurant says it remains focused on maintaining standards while continuing to adapt to the evolving challenges facing the hospitality sector.

“We’re proud of what we’ve achieved over the last 10 years, but we know the work doesn’t stop here. We’ll continue to evolve and push forward.”

You can find Prana on 97 Mill Road Cambridge on the corner plot of Gwydir street.
