Cambs Digitise Approved on the BlueLight Commercial Legacy Media Digitisation Framework

We’re pleased to share that Cambs Digitise has been approved as a supplier on the BlueLight Commercial Legacy Media Digitisation Framework (BLC-0177).

The framework provides UK policing and eligible public-sector organisations with a compliant route to procure specialist services for the digitisation of legacy analogue and physical media. It supports the secure transition of evidential material into modern digital evidence workflows and runs for four years.

From small beginnings to national frameworks

Cambs Digitise began just over two years ago with a simple aim: to preserve personal and family media that would otherwise be lost to time. Since then, the business has grown steadily, developing specialist expertise in the handling, digitisation and secure management of legacy media formats.

Being included on a nationwide policing framework represents a significant milestone in that journey and reflects the importance of technical capability, process maturity and trust when working with sensitive and evidential material.

Framework scope and approval

Cambs Digitise has been approved on the following framework lots:

Lot 3 – VHS Media Conversion (Outsourced with DEMS Integration)
Supporting the secure outsourcing of VHS media digitisation, including professional conversion to digital format, integration with a contracting authority’s Digital Evidence Management System (DEMS), secure delivery of digital files with associated metadata, and return of original media once completed.

Lot 5 – Niche Media Conversion (Outsourced with DEMS Integration)
Covering the digitisation of specialist and non-VHS legacy media formats, with secure electronic transfer of digitised content into DEMS environments and return of original media following digitisation.

Why legacy media digitisation matters

Across policing and the wider public sector, large volumes of historical and evidential material remain stored on ageing formats such as VHS, audio cassette, optical media and other specialist formats. These materials are increasingly fragile, reliant on obsolete playback equipment, and difficult to integrate into modern digital systems.

Digitising legacy media helps organisations to preserve evidential material before degradation occurs, improve accessibility and retrieval times, and support efficient investigations and long-term records management.

Looking ahead

The BlueLight Commercial Legacy Media Digitisation Framework provides a long-term procurement route for policing bodies and specialist suppliers alike.

Cambs Digitise looks forward to supporting organisations across the UK as they transition legacy and specialist media into secure, accessible digital formats, ensuring critical material remains fit for the future.
