Improving biodiversity with Nature Based Farming

Apropos- has designed a clean contemporary visual identity to help Nature Based Farming provide Biodiversity Net Gain units (BNG) to builders and developers.

Nature Based Farming - logotype and mission statement

Following the Environment Act of 2021, UK developers are legally required to measurably improve and maintain the wildlife habitats across their building projects. They achieve this by enhancing existing habitats on-site or creating/improving habitats off-site to compensate for any loss caused by the development. If they are unable to meet this requirement on-site they can lease BNG units from landowners whose portfolio meets their specific habitat requirements – e.g. grassland, woodland, hedgerows, ponds and rivers. Nature Based Farming believe that conservation and food production can happily co-exist. They restore land, grow food, create habitats and ecosystem recovery for natural capital markets, including biodiversity net gain.

Apropos- has designed a visual identity, website and marketing materials to support Nature Based Farming in their important  work. The logotype references a virtuous circle, balancing the needs of nature, agriculture and wider society. A system where actions that benefit the environment create a positive feedback loop, leading to environmental improvements and societal benefits. We chose Robinson, a contemporary sans serif typeface with a traditional calligraphic character. The identity was supported with a suite of information graphics, maps and tables.
