One of the flagship events at London Climate Action Week, Cleantech Venture Day London took place on Monday 22 June at KPMG’s Canary Wharf office.

Setting the scene for the day was a keynote from Nigel Topping, Chair of the Climate Change Committee and former UN High-Level Climate Champion for COP26. The programme also featured three pitch sessions with deep tech climate companies, alongside talks, panels and networking designed to connect climate tech founders, investors and corporates from across the Climate Tech SuperCluster region.

Run by a Cambridge-based organisation, the event has helped foster corporate partnerships, joint development agreements and follow-on funding for previous pitching companies. This year's pitches spanned Pre-Seed, Seed and Series A/B stages, with companies including Sirona Technologies (Belgium), Kalz (Germany), Exora (France) and Eden Geothermal (UK) presenting to an audience of climate tech investors, corporates and partners from across the UK and Europe.

Joe Faulkner, East Anglia Office Senior Partner at KPMG UK, said: “It's fantastic to see how Cleantech Venture Day has grown from its roots in Cambridge into a flagship event that brings together some of Europe's biggest climate innovators and investors. For Cambridge, it’s a great example of the role the city continues to play in turning cutting-edge research and entrepreneurial ambition into solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time. It also strengthens the link between Cambridge and the capital.

“At the same time, it highlights the huge potential of the Oxford-Cambridge Arc as a home for the scale-ups behind breakthrough technologies that are helping shape a more resilient, low-carbon future.”

"Two years ago, this was one event in one city. Now we run Cleantech Venture Day in London, Paris and Amsterdam, with not only founders and investors but also other key ecosystem stakeholders from all over the region. That's the power and purpose of the Climate Tech SuperCluster," says Sylvie Russell, lead organiser of Cleantech Venture Day.
