Dental researchers at the University of Kentucky have published a new study demonstrating that a panel of salivary inflammatory biomarkers made up of IL-1β, IL-6, and MMP-8 has the ability to discriminate periodontal disease patients from healthy patients. The study also provides important information about the ability of these salivary analytes to serve as diagnostic aids.
