The government is encouraging those returning to work to walk or cycle wherever possible, and many people have been discovering the joys of cycling on quieter roads during the lockdown period. More than a third of people surveyed by YouGov in a poll for Cycling UK agreed that they might rethink their travel plans in future, which means this is the perfect time for businesses to encourage their staff to cycle to work.
Cycling UK, the national cycling charity, has prepared a practical guide outlining seven easy ways businesses can make their workplaces cycle-friendly, and the benefits this can bring to both employers and their staff.
To help people who are new to cycling, or returning to it, Cycling UK is offering a six-month Back on your bike support package. Priced at £15, it includes free third-party insurance, and one month’s free cycle insurance against theft and personal accident cover, as well as discounts at retailers including Raleigh, Halfords and Cotswold Outdoor.
