Location

Madingley Hall is part of University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education Institute. Built in the 16th century, this elegant country house has 16 well-equipped meeting rooms, 62 ensuite bedrooms, a professional kitchen, licensed bar, coffee shop, Lodge House available as rentable short-stay accommodation and is set in 8-acres of grounds including superb Capability Brown designed gardens.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as Commis Chef. The ideal candidate will have NVQ Level 1 or equivalent and a basic food hygiene certificate, with experience in a commercial kitchen within a quality hospitality led venue. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently in a pressurised environment are essential.

The successful candidate will be creative and passionate about food preparation and service, with a good knowledge of HACCP and COSHH systems. The ability to work under pressure is essential, and some experience of a commercial kitchen environment would be advantageous.

The role-holder will be expected to work 5 variable days per week, with specific days determined by a rota system to cover the peak operational hours Monday to Sunday including a requirement to work split shifts.
