Programme Overview

1. Developing a Leadership Style

Many managers mistakenly assume that leadership style is a function of personality rather than strategic choice. Instead of choosing the one style that suits their temperament, they should ask which style best addresses the demands of a particular situation.

This part of the programme looks at attributes of successful leaders’ including the emotional intelligence competencies of self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skill. Topics include:

  • What makes a good leader?
  • Charisma - how to develop it (A/P/I)
  • Leadership styles - pros and cons
  • Self-reflection

2.    Creating Compelling Stories

Telling a compelling story is how leaders build credibility and inspire people to willingly engage and follow. In this session, we review the characteristics of effective storytelling. Topics include:

  • Seeing the bigger picture
  • Identifying strategic intent
  • Story boarding – vision and strategy
  • Aligning purpose, priorities and projects

3.    Driving Change

Successful change leadership requires the active, visible, and committed involvement of leaders. Sociologically speaking, people are heavily influenced through modelling - watching other people - so the actions of leaders are critical to reinforcing the message of change. Topics include:

  • Drivers to change
  • Staying ahead of the curve
  • Noticing where change is required in your business
  • Methods for change - tools and techniques
  • How to bring people with you - the leader’s role

4.    Coaching for Success

Leaders that coach, help individuals develop their unique strengths and tie them to personal and career aspirations. They encourage long-term development goals and help people conceptualize a plan for attaining them. They make agreements about roles and responsibilities and actively engage in providing challenging assignments. Topics include:

  • Leader as a coach – skills and attributes
  • Building rapport – connecting, caring, and clarifying
  • Adding structure to coaching – the GROW model
  • Adapting and connecting to different personalities
  • Learning to challenge

Very good examples and live interactions.  Good chance to learn from each other
