After more than 7 years at the helm of the children’s mental health charity, Naomi Mallick is stepping down as Chair of Trustees at Blue Smile. Since joining in 2018, she has helped the charity to navigate the Coronavirus pandemic with the launch of a “Keeping in Touch” service to replace face-to-face support, and overseen the expansion of Blue Smile’s services across Cambridgeshire.

Naomi undertook the voluntary Chair role alongside her position as a Director at the Government Legal Department. She will be succeeded at Blue Smile by Sarah Nolasco, an Autism and ADHD Coach and former NHS/health sector manager, who has been a trustee since 2020.

Sarah says:

“Thank you to Naomi, for her leadership through challenging times for the charity such as the covid pandemic, where we had to completely change our delivery model, and excellent chairing supporting us to get through all the important things we need to discuss efficiently! I am looking forward to moving the charity into its next phase as we look at how we adapt the service model to meet changing school needs and broaden our support.”

Blue Smile also welcomes two new Trustees to the Board in March:

Libby Rowlands brings significant expertise in fundraising and marketing and is currently Head of Partnerships at nursing charity Cavell.

Rachael Armitage is a qualified solicitor who has also worked as a Learning Support Assistant in primary schools. Her experiences as a parent have given her a deep understanding of the children’s mental health sector.

Founded in 2010, Blue Smile provides arts-based therapy and small-group support to children aged 3-13 who are struggling with their mental health. The charity delivers its support in schools, helping over 400 children across Cambridgeshire each year to enjoy happier childhoods and build brighter futures.

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the overall governance, strategy and oversight of the organisation, sharing their time and skills on a voluntary basis.
