Cambridge Consultants staff set charity fundraising record

Staff at Cambridge Consultants have raised £40,000 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Charity fundraising at product design and development firm Cambridge Consultants has reached new heights – with a £40,000 donation to the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) organisation. The money was raised by staff through activities such as a monthly fancy-dress cake trolley, sales of bacon rolls, regular raffles and participation in the Cambridge Half Marathon. The company then matched the amount raised by its staff.

“We are delighted with this generous donation from everyone at Cambridge Consultants,” said Barbara McGee, fundraising manager at the EAAA. “The money will help us keep flying and saving lives across East Anglia. We rely solely on the support and generosity of local people and corporate sponsors like Cambridge Consultants to help us raise the cash needed to operate our two helicopters. So this amazing amount of money will really make a difference.”

Since it began flying in 2000, the EAAA has helped to save the lives of hundreds of people involved in accidents or medical emergencies across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Its team of doctors and critical care paramedics aims to reach anyone in East Anglia within 25 minutes. The helicopters are equipped with a full range of specialist lifesaving equipment, allowing the medical crew to deliver A&E-level care at the scene of an incident – in effect, bringing the hospital to the patient.

“When we were selecting our ‘charity of the year’ for 2015, the EAAA was a popular choice as it provides a vital lifeline for the local community,” said Louise James, head of the charity committee at Cambridge Consultants. “We are proud that our staff have once again proved generous with their time and money to enable us to beat our previous fundraising record by an incredible 40%."
