Cambridge Consultants is still one of the best

Cambridge Consultants repeats its success as one of the best companies to work for.

For the second year running, product design and development firm Cambridge Consultants has been named one of the best companies to work for in the UK. It has once again achieved a coveted place in the list of The Sunday Times 100 Best Mid-Sized Companies to Work For – the annual ranking of the cream of Britain’s motivated workforces – maintaining its 2-star accreditation for ‘outstanding’ workplace engagement.

“I am delighted that our staff have again decided this is an exceptional place to work,” said Alan Richardson, CEO of Cambridge Consultants. “This is a fantastic endorsement from our employees of our efforts to preserve the unique working culture and opportunities for personal growth at Cambridge Consultants as the company grows. Our people-focused culture is a vital element of our expansion to ensure we maintain our position as the employer of choice for truly talented people.”

Cambridge Consultants recruited 90 people in the UK last year, taking its global workforce to 450 – with equally strong recruitment plans for 2015. It has just opened new £6m wireless technology development facilities at its Cambridge Science Park headquarters – and completed expansion work on the restaurant in the company’s main building, which serves free lunches to staff every day. Last year also saw the opening of new US headquarters in Boston – doubling its previous office space in the US and incorporating state-of-the-art medical technology development facilities, including a surgical operating suite.

As well as free lunches and refreshments, UK staff at Cambridge Consultants receive a comprehensive healthcare package and a performance-related bonus scheme. An active social club gives the company a ‘family feel’. And half a million pounds a year is invested in training.

“We are committed to continuing our investment in our world-class people and facilities,” said Richardson. “Clients come to us because they recognise that we have all the skills and facilities under one roof to solve their most complex technical challenges – fast. In turn, as we grow to keep pace with that increasing demand, it enables us to offer our employees unparalleled opportunities to develop their careers and achieve their full potential.”

In its 55-year history, Cambridge Consultants has been involved in a range of breakthrough products and technologies – from the round tea bag you use to make your morning beverage, to the ground-to-air radio system controlling air traffic over the majority of the planet. Current projects range from Iridium NEXT – the world's most significant commercial space programme – to neurological implants and the latest wearable technology.
