Extract Info publishes next edition of InfoBlog: from patent search to visual history

Extract Info's Infoblog, which covers 53 organisations, now includes updates from the IP5 patent offices - South Korea, Japan, China, European Patent Office and the USA - on patent information developments.

The blog follows the established and emerging commercial patent information providers, search and software services companies, but also includes other information search and research news as identified through the news-tracker and which I find interesting.    This month found content improvements for free patent searchers with Google adding full text patent publications machine translated into English to its patent search product, and Minesoft adding legal status functionality and US litigation information.  Legal status checking is an important part of a patent analyst’s job, there are many steps involved to determine who owns the patent (it might not be the company names on the specification), and whether it is actually in-force (valid), (are fees paid?, has it been granted? in which country(ies)).  There’s much more, even though a little quiet due to summer holidays, in the Northern hemisphere at least.

Follow the InfoBlog to stay up to date with the latest developments in the patent information industry.  Information Industry Digest IV can be downloaded as PDF or viewed as a blog at http://www.extractinfo.info/info-blog/.  If you don’t want to miss any issues, the best way is to follow Extract Information’s LinkedIn page.  What’s in the blog this month?  Starting next month the Blog will include news from user meetings and events attended too.

Extract Information is working with search software developer Deep SEARCH 9, whose new web content analytics technology is used to build the SEARCHCORPUS for the InfoBlog. Deep SEARCH 9 can be used to create repeatable, precision search queries which will run on sources on the public web.
