ELY, UK – August 4, 2025 – Ben Coppin, a veteran of the global tech industry with nearly 30 years of experience, has officially launched Scruffy Leadership Limited, a new coaching business aimed at helping a new generation of leaders thrive. Based in Ely and offering online services, Ben is leveraging his extensive background—including a 13-year tenure at Google DeepMind where he served as an Engineering Director—to mentor and coach professionals, with a particular focus on software engineers transitioning into leadership.
Scruffy Leadership is a rejection of the overly polished, rigid leadership models often found in textbooks. Instead, it champions an approach that embraces authenticity, adaptability, and the messy reality of day-to-day management. Its philosophy is built on core principles such as Psychological Safety, Clarity, and Empowerment, which Ben has honed through decades of leading technical teams in both the UK and the US.
