Got your PfCO? What comes next?

So you’ve just passed your theory and practical flight tests and you’re now in possession of your shiny new Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO) from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). So what comes next?

ProDrone Academy Managing Director Ian Titchener writes:

Let me preface this next section with one statement. You can earn a lot of money in the commercial drone sector.

So what next? It’s a hard question to answer, isn’t it? Everybody wants to be wildly successful and immediately have hundreds of clients bashing their door down, however, when reality sinks in and you look at your current situation in the hard light of day the situation can be somewhat different to what you had imagined before you started your course.

Many remote pilots have been sold the myth that you can make a lot of money in the commercial drone sector. But here is a cold hard truth! The only people that make money work in the Royal Mint, the rest of us have to work and earn it. If you want to earn more, you simply deliver more or if you want to earn less you simply deliver less. If you want to be successful in the commercial drone sector you have to work hard

Heres' a truth:

There are no short cuts, no websites that will make you a millionaire overnight. Hard work breeds success!

The good news is that you can acquire a new set of skills that can make your success a lot more certain. Those skills are grounded in basic sales and marketing disciplines. If you think you are going to run a successful small business without being a salesperson, picking up the phone and speaking to people or engaging in some basic marketing you’re in for a rude awakening

Here are some tips

1. Get a CRM system and track all of your customer enquiries. There are some that are free (such as HubSpot) until you reach a certain size.

2.Attend a social media workshop and learn what platform would be best for you

3.Figure out who your audience is and where your audience is and then be all over it

4. Don’t waste energy on UAV lead generation platforms that don’t work. Call me and I'll tell you which ones do!

5. Attend a sales and marketing workshop that will equip you with the basic skills that you will need to drive your sales and business to where you want it to be! ( It just so happens that we run the industries only specific sales and marketing course built solely for drone pilots!)

If you work hard, apply yourself and do the right things you can only succeed, it's inevitable. But by the same token, if you go off half-cocked and cut corners, it will lead you to the other place!
