Meet Cambridge celebrates successful fundraising for regional mental health charity

Meet Cambridge , the official conference and events bureau for Cambridge, has celebrated two years of successful fundraising for a regional mental health charity, with an official cheque presentation ceremony.

In January 2018, Meet Cambridge chose Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire Mind (CPSL Mind) as its dedicated charity and since then has held a series of events and activities to raise a total of £2,750 to support those with mental health issues.

Meet Cambridge also chose to donate all the proceeds from its 20th birthday celebrations to the charity, including a special event attended by more than 90 people and headlined by Bryony Gordon, a prominent advocate for mental health.

Other events have included quiz nights and a charity treasure hunt where participants brushed up on their local knowledge, as well as raising money for the charity. Donations were also made by Meet Cambridge for every client who completed a feedback request.

Judith Sloane, Deputy Manager at Meet Cambridge said: “We have enjoyed supporting CPSL Mind with a range of fundraising events and activities over the last two years. Mental health is now higher on the agenda but work still needs to be done to raise awareness and the demand for the charity’s services continues to grow.”

Zoe Doherty, Fundraiser, CPSL Mind said: “It has been amazing working with Meet Cambridge over the last two years. Not only have they raised thousands of pounds, they have also helped to raise awareness of mental health, encouraging others to talk more and ask for help if they need it.

“Last year CPSL Mind provided 20,181 hours of one-to-one support to local people and our Sanctuary service which helps people in mental health crisis received 1,857 visits. With demand for our services remaining high, this donation will help many local people who are struggling with their mental health. A huge thank you to Judith, Leah and all the team at Meet Cambridge for their dedication, hard work and amazing fundraising efforts!”

CPSL Mind’s mission is to provide effective, accessible, co-produced services across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire that support those recovering from mental health challenges, promote positive mental health and tackle mental health-related stigma and discrimination within our communities.

Established in 1998, Meet Cambridge is the conference and events bureau for Cambridge and the only official venue-finding service for space at The University of Cambridge and the Cambridge Colleges.  It offers impartial advice and a comprehensive suite of services to help clients deliver exceptional events, from free venue sourcing to full event management.
