Micromobility Innovation launches CitiPod Pioneer Programme

Cambridge-based Micromobility Innovation, a spin-out of Cambridge Electric Transport, has launched the CitiPod Pioneer Programme, giving early adopters the opportunity to help shape a new generation of lightweight, weather-protected electric transport designed for short urban journeys. The programme will bring together an initial group of Pioneer customers who will contribute to the final development of CitiPod ahead of first production deliveries in 2027.

Citipod

Cambridge-based Micromobility Innovation (MMI) is inviting individuals and organisations to become early adopters of CitiPod, its new four-wheel lightweight electric vehicle designed to bridge the gap between the conventional e-bike and the car or van.

Developed in Cambridge, CitiPod combines the compact footprint and low energy consumption of active travel with greater stability, carrying capacity and weather protection. Passenger and Cargo versions are being developed for applications ranging from family and commuter journeys to business deliveries and shared mobility.

The new CitiPod Pioneer Programme is intended to involve early customers directly in the next stage of the vehicle's development.

Pioneers will have opportunities to see and experience the vehicle as development progresses, provide feedback on features and usability, and help shape the production CitiPod. In return for making an early commitment, Pioneer customers receive a 20% discount on the planned retail price.

The Passenger CitiPod has a planned retail price of £5,000, with Pioneer customers paying £4,000. Places in the programme are secured with a £500 deposit, with first production deliveries targeted for 2027.

MMI sees CitiPod as part of a wider move towards smaller, lighter and more efficient vehicles for urban transport. A key objective is to provide a practical alternative for journeys where a conventional bicycle may not offer enough protection, stability or carrying capacity, but where using a car is unnecessary.

The company is also developing an autonomy roadmap for CitiPod. Working with technology partners, it is exploring low-speed, supervised autonomous capabilities that could ultimately allow shared CitiPods to reposition themselves to where users need them, opening up new possibilities for ride-hailing, shared mobility and last-mile logistics.

Cambridge is central to that development. MMI has already undertaken a UK government-supported feasibility study exploring autonomous CitiPod applications in Greater Cambridge and is working with local organisations, technology partners and prospective customers on future trials and deployments.

The Pioneer Programme is initially limited to 30 participants, including individuals, businesses and organisations interested in helping to shape a new form of lightweight urban mobility.

MMI is particularly interested in hearing from Cambridge Network members who may want to become Pioneers themselves, explore CitiPod for their organisation, or discuss opportunities for trials, partnerships and investment.
