Pink Duck Race to make waves in Cambridge for Breast Cancer Awareness

Pink Duck Race

On Sunday 21 September, 20,000 bright pink rubber ducks will take to the River Cam in a wonderfully wacky and deeply worthwhile fundraising spectacle. The Pink Duck Race makes its UK debut, organised by the Pink Ribbon Foundation in celebration of its 25th anniversary, supporting those affected by breast cancer.

First launched in Antwerp, Belgium, the Pink Duck Race has since grown into an international movement, with successful events in Tenerife, and now, for the first time, in the United Kingdom. The city of Cambridge,  renowned for its rowing heritage and scenic riverside,  offers the perfect setting for this unique celebration of community, hope, and collective action.

“We chose Cambridge not just for its beauty, but for its strong sense of community and charitable heart,” says Lisa Allen at the Pink Ribbon Foundation. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to watch Cambridge’s River turn a sea of pink as 20,000 miniature ambassadors paddle past. Each duck carries a message of hope – raising both awareness and critical funds for
everyone whose life has been touched by breast cancer. Together, we’re turning a playful spectacle into lasting impact.”
Guests can enjoy a relaxed afternoon by the river, featuring food and drink hosted by our venue partner, the City of Cambridge Rowing Club (Cambridge Rowing Experience), along with a few delicious treats, light music, and maybe even a celebrity appearance or two. One lucky participant will also win a standout prize: a Golden Duck jewellery set, complete with diamonds, generously donated by Hatton Garden jeweller Lewis Malka London.

How do I get involved?

Whether you're an individual wanting to adopt a solitary duck, or a business looking to adopt a flotilla, you can do so here - https://adopt.pinkduckrace.com/detail/race/16/lan/en

Environmental responsibility is a key part of the event: No duck gets left behind. All 20,000 ducks will be retrieved, cleaned, and prepped for their next, pink-powered adventure.

This inaugural UK event is being professionally delivered by The Crane Event and Skinny Kitten Events, with sponsored partnerships from Cambridge Rowing Experience, QAV Global, Lewis Malka London, Intelligent Membranes, Brewboard, and with full support from the Cambridge boathouses.
