The University Staff Counselling Centre is excited to have the opportunity to recruit a highly experienced and motivated Counsellor to undertake a two-year secondment with our senior management team, 12 counsellors and 4 administrators.
The Staff Counselling Centre is a well-respected department within the university focused on providing high quality and accessible counselling provision to staff throughout the university including time limited counselling (up to 9 sessions); a selection of psychoeducational workshops; reflective practice groups; and consultation to managerial colleagues across the organisation
The successful candidate will have a post-graduate level counselling/psychotherapy/CBT/clinical or counselling psychologist qualification, full accreditation as a counsellor/psychotherapist with BACP, UKCP, BABCP, BPC, or as a clinical or counselling psychologist with BPS or HCPC is essential, as well as extensive experience of individual counselling within an organisational or institutional context, preferably Further Education or Higher Education. They will have at least 5 years post-qualification counselling experience and be able to demonstrable a potential for leadership in the context of supporting and motivating staff within the counselling centre.
The post holder will be committed to the delivery, development and improvement of counselling provision at the Centre. They will hold significant line management responsibilities as well as delivering one-to one counselling. They will be an effective communicator with confident IT skills. There will be opportunities for creativity, innovation, and leadership within particular areas of responsibility. They will share responsibility for managing the waiting list and all related tasks with the Senior Management Team. As an organisational member of the BACP we expect the post-holder to work to the highest professional and ethical standards in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.
The secondment will provide the role-holder with structured input from senior counsellors in the service in the form of training sessions, day to day clinical mentoring and support, and management supervision.
The University Staff Counselling Centre operates on a hybrid basis, The role-holder will be required to work all three days in the building each week, Monday to Wednesday. The Centre provides in-person, remote video or telephone appointments. Service delivery operates in line with the University's Health and Safety guidance.
The Centre is open between 9am - 5.30pm Monday - Thursday and 9am - 4.30pm on Fridays.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years.
