Liz Jessop was among 14 young accountants from across KPMG’s global network who made this year’s list, including colleagues based in the Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen offices, and others now working either on secondment or long-term at the firm’s offices in Toronto, Bologna and Sydney.
The ICAS Top Young CAs competition is the leading industry body’s annual showcase of the most promising, talented CAs in the world of accounting, finance and business.
The CAs selected in this year’s list all faced an anonymous and rigorous judging process focused on finding young professionals who are outstanding in their field. An overall winner – the One Young CA 2020 – will be chosen from the Top 100 list in October.
Commenting on her achievement, Liz said: “I’m quite overwhelmed to be included in this year’s list of the Top 100 Young CAs. It has been the most extraordinary year and so it’s great to see success recognised within both KPMG and the wider business community. To be placed among so many of my very talented colleagues makes the award feel even more special. I look forward to continue to work both internally and externally on inclusion and diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for all.”
Kelly Dunn, Office Senior Partner for KPMG in Cambridge added: “I am thrilled for Liz, who is one of our many bright, talented team here in Cambridge. She has worked incredibly hard in her studies, client work, contribution to the community and most recently in her role as IT's Her Future Development Lead and Co-Chair KPMG WorkAbility Network - it has really paid off. She really does give her heart and soul and I’m very proud to have her in our team.”
ICAS Chief Executive, Bruce Cartwright CA, said: “I would like to congratulate all of the exceptional CAs who made it on to this year’s Top 100 Young CAs list.
“It is a great achievement to make it onto the list and it presents a wonderful chance for these talented young CAs to be recognised by their peers.
“This year’s awards take place against a backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic. The world will need accountants, of all ages, experience and diversity of background, as we navigate the challenging economic and personal impact of this crisis.
“The attributes we highlight in our categories – talent, trust and technology, will help us get there. We applaud the qualities exhibited by these Top 100 CAs aged 35 and under, selected by our panel of expert judges, and indeed many more beyond this group.”
Twenty-six year old Liz, who lives in Cambridge, joined KPMG’s school leaver programme in 2013.
