Cambridge Beer Festival smashes all records

The 46th annual Cambridge Summer Beer Festival came to a close on Sunday, serving a record 45,111 customers a total of 110,700 pints of beer, cider and perry, over 2,200 bottles of wine and mead and approximately 750kg of cheese which was enjoyed with 55kg of pickle.

Over 550 volunteers gave up their time to help.

A further record was set by the festival charity. Arthur Rank Hospice Charity raised over £25,000 to help support people in Cambridgeshire living with a life-limiting illness and those who need end-of-life care.

Anthony Cox, Festival organiser was particularly pleased with the number of customers visiting. “I think this shows that interest in real ales, perries and ciders continues to be strong. Although nationally pubs are shutting at an alarming rate, a record attendance at our Festival shows the strength of feeling in Cambridgeshire for good community pubs which serve good beer. I’d particularly like to thank our volunteers, without whom we would not be able to run the event.”

The Cambridge Summer Beer Festival returns 18th - 23rd May, 2020.
