Camcycle, the Cambridge Cycling Campaign, has been working hard, alongside many partner organisations, to promote and organise over 20 cycling-themed events. Whoever you are and whatever your interests, there is an event for you. The festival will be opened on Sunday 1 September with a family-friendly ride to Milton Country Park and picnic on the grounds. Throughout the month there will be multiple social rides, bike maintenance and photography workshops, a film night showing cargo bike documentary MotherLoad, a performance of Much Ado About Nothing by the HandleBards and of course the flagship event, the Cargo Carnival.

Camcycle has partnered with the Cambridge Museum of Technology and the Cavendish Laboratory to create an event for people of all ages. You will be able to cycle race against your friends in virtual reality, learn how cycle gears work and get up close to record-breaking cycles.
The Cargo Carnival (pictured) will also return on 21 September with the Cargo Bike parade, cargo bike and family cycle tryouts and a fair with traders who use cargo bikes as a core part of their businesses selling food, drink and services.
Cambridgeshire County Council Cycling Projects Team is supporting the carnival via CityChangerCargoBike, an EU Horizon 2020 Cycle Logistics project. Cycle tryouts will be provided by local companies Outspoken Cycles, Dutch Bikes and Electric Bike Sales.
Most of the festival events are free or have a minimal charge to cover costs and help raise funds for Camcycle. Find out more about the events on the Festival website here.
The winners of CamcycleQuest, a cycling treasure hunt hosted by Camcycle in association with Tees Law, will be announced at the Cargo Carnival. This treasure hunt is a great family activity and a chance to see hidden bits of Cambridge. There is still time to complete the Quest and enter the competition and get your hands on one of the amazing prizes, including a £900 cargo bike e-conversion from Electric Bike Sales.
Cambridge remains the cycling capital of the UK with 57.5% of adults cycling at least once per week in comparison to the English average of 6.1%, according to the latest Department of Transport Walking and Cycling Statistics. But there is still more work to be done for more, better and safer cycling for all ages and abilities in and around Cambridge.
