GUARDTECH have donated £440 towards the Sarcoma UK Golf Day fundraiser as their Charity Champions initiative continues to support worthy causes across East Anglia and beyond.
The event, which takes place at North Middlesex Golf Club on Monday 21 September, will raise money to support research into a rare form of cancer – a cause that is close to the business’ heart following the untimely passing of a staff member’s daughter due to the illness.
It marks the latest in a series of charitable donations from the Haverhill firm over the past year as part of their Charity Champions initiative, where local and national causes are nominated by staff for support and then selected by a panel to receive donations.
Earlier this summer, Guardtech sponsored shirts for a charity football match at Market Harborough FC for Bemorefab children’s cancer charity, pledging £1,000 to the cause.
The first-ever Charity Champion, announced in September last year, was also for Sarcoma UK, with £500 being donated to the charity to support Guardtech Systems & IT Manager Elliott Sheppard’s ‘Thames Trek’ fundraising walk in honour of daughter Isobel Sheppard, who suffered from the rare cancer Sarcoma.
A month later, the Group donated £250 to the Motor Neurone Disease Association’s ‘75 Mile Dog Walk in October’ to support Manufacturing Manager Richard Fraser’s fundraising efforts alongside his wife, Michelle.
In November, Guardtech donated another £250 to Royal Lancaster Infirmary’s Bay Hospitals Charity drive ‘500 Miles for You’ – an initiative that is aiming to raise £12,000 for the intensive care unit through a collective team effort, where healthcare professionals will walk and run a combined 500 miles in one week.
And what’s more, the Guardtech team pulled together to raise a further £545 for men’s health charity fundraiser Movember through a series of active pursuits and, of course, dodgy moustaches!
To cap that all off, the Guardtech Group will now be looking to elect and announce a Charity of the Year for 2027, whilst continuing to support regional and UK-wise causes throughout the rest of 2026.

“It’s a huge part of our culture and identity as a company – and so giving something back and supporting great causes is something that we all cherish.
“What we’ve tried to do so far is choose causes that mean something to our staff – from the amazing fundraising work Elliott is doing in his daughter’s memory to Richard and Michelle’s MND dog walk, through to the Bay Hospitals cause to honour our large Lancastrian contingent, it’s all part of reinforcing that company culture and to show that we really do value everyone so much.
