MRCP(UK) qualifications provide gateway to international medicine

Membership of the Royal College of Physicians provides internationally-recognised qualifications that can help individuals to achieve their professional goals at home and abroad.

Dr Bina Nasim, a specialist registrar in internal medicine at Rashid Hospital in Dubai, explained her reasons for studying internationally: “I first heard about the MRCP(UK) examinations during my internship at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan. I always wanted to work overseas, so taking globally-recognised qualifications was the obvious choice.”

“All the MRCP(UK) qualifications are easily accessible for students outside the UK, and the examinations can be sat in centres around the world; it was very convenient. I completed my MRCP(UK) examinations – Part 1, Part 2 Written and Part 2 Clinical (PACES) – in 2010, and was then able to secure a position as specialist registrar at the Rashid Hospital, which was a big step forward in my career. I have since continued my studies, sitting the Specialty Certificate Examination (SCE) in endocrinology and diabetes in 2012.”

“Studying for and passing these exams has made a big difference to my professional development. With so many nationalities here in Dubai, there is a lot of competition for jobs. MRCP(UK) has an excellent reputation, both here in the UAE and around the world, so having these internationally recognised qualifications is a real advantage. Studying for the exams has undoubtedly increased my clinical skills as well, improving my ability to differentially diagnose complex cases and polishing up my knowledge.”
