The teddy bears will be used in the charity's Teddy Bear Tombola at Arbury Carnival, The Big Lunch Abbey and Chesterton Festival, helping The Red Hen Project work towards its £800 fundraising target while raising awareness of its support for children and families across North Cambridge.
Katie Robinson, Community Engagement Specialist at The Cambridge Building Society, said:
"We were delighted to support The Red Hen Project's summer fundraising efforts by collecting and preparing more than 200 teddy bears for its Teddy Bear Tombola."
"The funds raised through these events will help the charity continue its important work supporting children and families across North Cambridge. We're proud to support organisations that are making a positive difference in our communities."
Jennifer Rutter, Funding and Partnerships Officer at The Red Hen Project, said:
"We are incredibly grateful to everyone at The Cambridge Building Society who donated, collected and prepared teddy bears for our summer events. Their support not only helps us raise vital funds but also creates opportunities to connect with local families in welcoming community spaces. Every teddy, ticket and conversation helps us reach more children and families."
Funds raised will support us to continue to work alongside children and their families, providing family support, community activities, and practical help to strengthen wellbeing, build confidence and reduce isolation.
Alongside its support for The Red Hen Project, volunteers from The Cambridge also spent an afternoon at Emmaus Cambridge, helping sort clothes and donated items to support the charity's day-to-day operations.
Working alongside companions, staff and volunteers, the team helped prepare donations for sale while gaining a greater understanding of the charity's work supporting people who have experienced homelessness.
Their support helped Emmaus sort and prepared donations more quickly, contributing to the vital funds the charity generates to support its community of companions.
