The new funding will provide the practical resources needed to help people move from temporary accommodation into more stable housing.
Working closely with residents, the support worker will identify those ready to take the next step and provide tailored one-to-one guidance to help them transition successfully into independent living.
Katie Robinson, Community Engagement Specialist at The Cambridge, said:
"Jimmy’s Cambridge does incredible work supporting people at some of the most challenging points in their lives. While securing accommodation is a huge milestone, maintaining it and building confidence for the future often requires ongoing, practical support.
"This grant builds on our existing partnership with the charity and reflects a shared commitment to helping people create more secure and independent futures. By funding a dedicated support worker, we hope to help remove barriers and provide the support people need to move forward with confidence."
This latest grant from The Cambridge’s award-winning Community Fund builds on the society’s long-standing relationship with Jimmy’s Cambridge, which provides safe, welcoming accommodation and personalised support to people experiencing homelessness across Cambridge.
Without the right support network, maintaining a tenancy and rebuilding independence can be challenging, which is why Jimmy’s Cambridge works closely with residents to help them build happier, healthier and more independent lives.
Camille Gauthier-Frigon, Corporate Fundraiser at Jimmy’s Cambridge, said:
"The Cambridge has been a valued partner for Jimmy’s for a number of years, not only through its financial support but through the genuine commitment its colleagues show to our work. From volunteering at fundraising events to supporting initiatives like the Christmas Giving Tree, they consistently demonstrate their support for Jimmy’s and for people experiencing homelessness in our shared community.
"This latest grant will help part fund a dedicated, professional and qualified support worker to guide people from short term emergency accommodation into longer term housing. That personalised support makes all the difference, giving individuals the confidence and practical help they need to build a more independent future. Long-term partnerships like this allow us to create lasting impact and continue providing life-changing support to those who need it most."
