Local people are being urged to sign up now as the countdown begins to this year’s much-loved ‘Bridge the Gap’ Charity Walk through Cambridge's historic colleges.
With just over one week to go until the event on Sunday 13 September, organisers are encouraging walkers of all ages to book their place and be part of one of the city's most popular community fundraising events.
The annual ‘Bridge the Gap’ Charity Walk supports Arthur Rank Hospice Charity and Romsey Mill.
Starting and finishing on Parker's Piece, this year's family-friendly walk will follow a brand-new route through the city, taking participants behind the gates and into the grounds of six Cambridge colleges, offering a unique opportunity to experience some of Cambridge's most iconic locations. Colleges featured on this year’s route are Jesus, St John’s, Trinity, Gonville & Caius, Queens’ and Downing.
Last year's event saw almost 2,200 walkers take part, raising a record-breaking £63,000 for the two charities. Organisers are hoping for another strong turnout this year as the event enters its 26th year.
Supported by The Cambridge Building Society, in its 18th year as headline sponsor, Bridge the Gap has raised more than £750,000 for local charities since it was first launched in 2001, thanks to the support of over 52,000 walkers.
Places cost £22.50 per person, with all proceeds from ticket sales supporting Arthur Rank Hospice Charity and Romsey Mill. Up to three under-16s can take part free with every paying adult. Sharon Allen, Chief Executive of Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, said:

Walkers will be supported along the fully accessible route by more than 120 volunteers, while Parker's Piece will host refreshments from volunteer-run cake tents and live acoustic music, creating a welcoming atmosphere for participants and supporters alike.
