Develop your people and project management skills

Whether your job calls for you to manage people in meetings, or to lead and manage projects, there are always new skills you can learn. Find out how to increase your capabilities at forthcoming courses from Cambridge Network's Learning Collaboration.

Managing Meetings on 24 April is a one-day workshop designed for anyone who regularly facilitates meetings and is interested in gaining a greater understanding of how to make them more effective and energetic.

Meetings are part of many people’s day to day work and yet few of us are trained to understand what happens to us in groups or how to facilitate meetings. That’s why we can often leave meetings wondering “What just happened?” - unclear what the outcome was, or feeling we didn’t get the result we wanted.

This course will help you:

  • Understand and adapt your facilitation style for different types of meetings and outcomes
  • Learn to recognise group roles and how these play out in meetings
  • Identify ways of using assertive communication to help you manage conflict
  • Get your point across effectively in 30 seconds
  • Practise a toolbox of skills to help you persuade, lead and gain commitment from your team>
  • Gain greater knowledge of techniques to plan for, manage and follow up meetings

Project Management and Leadership next month (14-15 May)  is a  two-day workshop aimed at managers who lead teams and projects, but who already have some basic knowledge and understanding of the processes.

The content assumes that you will have some experience of project working and that you are responsible for running at least one project. The focus is on the leadership aspects of project working, while still covering tools and techniques.

The workshop will:

  • Introduce you to the skills, tools and challenges of leading a successful project
  • Provide you with an opportunity to practise leadership skills and tools
  • Enable you to identify personal learning and prepare a personal development plan
