A gala dinner takes place tonight (Thursday, September 28) at the five-star Cambridge Country Club in Bourn, at which the winners will be revealed in categories from Business Innovation to Business Person of the Year.

Editor Paul Brackley said: “This is a wonderful celebration of SMEs working in a wide range of sectors and I wish all of our finalists the best of luck.

“Once again, we had a large number of entries demonstrating ingenuity, determination and sheer hard work, which meant our judging panel faced a challenging task. We look forward to revealing the winners.”

Many of those winners will also go on to compete at a national level in the National SME Business Awards, at which some of our previous winners have also triumphed.

Returning as headline sponsor of this year’s Cambridge Independent SME Cambridgeshire Business Awards is the law firm Barr Ellison Law, which is supporting the Property Industry Business of the Year category and the Service Excellence award.

Partner Kelly Peck said: “In 2024, Barr Ellison Law will be marking our 150th anniversary, so this is a fantastic opportunity for us to step back and celebrate our finalists’ major achievements throughout 2023.

“These businesses and their people are our raison d’etre at Barr Ellison. This is why we are honoured to be headline sponsor of these business awards, and to recognise industrious, hard-working enterprises for their achievements.”

Also supporting the awards this year are South Cambridgeshire District Council, which is backing the Sustainability category, in recognition of the emphasis it is placing on helping businesses to grow and develop in sustainable ways through the work of its business support team.

Productheads, which helps hire, scale and train product teams, is sponsoring the Business Innovation category, while The Cambridge Building Society’s community focus makes it a natural sponsor for the Community Business of the Year category, which features finalists who go the distance to support those around them.

The Best New Business category is sponsored by @Inc (MENTA), reflecting how it helps foster new enterprises. Growth Works, meanwhile, which is helping businesses across the country to scale, is supporting the High Growth Business of the Year category, featuring finalists from fields as diverse as a bakery and life science.
