Cambridge Science Centre (CSC) is excited to announce that Jimmy Doherty, Ayeisha Kone-Massouma and Tamara Sword are joining its Board of Trustees. The appointments support the Charity’s ambitious future plans as outlined in its five-year Strategic Plan.
Each new Trustee has been appointed for their unique expertise and experience, as Chair of Cambridge Science Centre, Harriet Fear explains:
“We are fortunate to have such deeply committed, experienced Trustees. When we realised last summer that we would have three vacancies, we undertook a review to identify the specific expertise and skills needed to bolster our capacity to deliver the long-term vision set out in our Strategic Plan. It was a very intentional process, and we are delighted to welcome our new Board members.
Jimmy Doherty brings extensive experience in audience engagement, visitor experience and destination development, as well as being a renowned and highly respected broadcaster and entrepreneur. We will gain deep insight into early career pathways through the lived experience and expertise of Ayeisha Kone-Massouma, a Project Management Apprentice at Bidwells, who is undertaking a degree apprentice in quantity surveying. Tamara Sword is a superb former Tech Chief Marketing Officer who founded the strategic communications agency ThoughtLDR, and has significant previous charitable Trustee experience.
All three have incredible focus, balanced beautifully with heart and warmth, and we feel very fortunate to be moving forward with their support.”
Together, the appointments reflect Cambridge Science Centre’s ambition to have a Board that combines established leadership with emerging professional perspectives. This blend of experience will support the organisation as it expands its programmes, strengthens its partnerships with industry and education, and deepens its place-based work across the East of England and potentially beyond.
Jimmy Doherty, CEO of Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park, comments:
“I’m delighted to be joining Cambridge Science Centre as the organisation launches its five-year strategy for continued growth and impact. Much of my career has been about connecting people with the natural world and showing how science underpins everyday life — from conservation to food production. I’m looking forward to bringing that perspective to the Board and helping the Centre deepen the real-world relevance of its work as it grows and evolves.”
Ayeisha Kone-Massouma adds:
“Creating pathways into STEM for young people is something I care deeply about, especially for those who may not yet see a place for themselves in these industries. Cambridge Science Centre plays a vital role in helping young people understand what STEM careers actually look like and how to begin their journey. I’m excited to bring a unique perspective to the Board and to champion opportunities that help more young people take their first steps with confidence.”
Tamara Sword, Founder of ThoughtLDR, said:
“Cambridge Science Centre brings opportunities to people who might not otherwise encounter the technologies and ideas shaping the world around them. Throughout my career, I’ve seen how transformative it can be when centres of innovation are made accessible and engaging. It sparks imagination, builds confidence and helps young people see a place for themselves in the future. I’m delighted to support the organisation as it continues to inspire the next generation.”
CEO of Cambridge Science Centre, Rebecca Porter concludes:
“As we deliver our five-year strategy, it is vital that our Trustees provide the governance, expertise, passion and energy required to achieve our ambitions. We are thrilled that Ayeisha, Tamara and Jimmy are joining us at this pivotal moment as we deepen engagement with the community, translate partnerships into impact, and build momentum towards becoming a centre of excellence for science engagement with regional depth and national relevance.”
