The Red Hen Project is now a Real Living Wage Employer

Graphic reads we're proud to be a living wage employer committed to paying a wage based on the real cost of living

We’re proud to share that The Red Hen Project is now officially accredited as a Real Living Wage Employer. This means we’ve made a firm commitment to pay all of our staff a wage that reflects the real cost of living, and not just the government minimum.

The Real Living Wage is independently calculated every year by the Living Wage Foundation based on what people actually need to get by. It’s designed to ensure workers can afford essentials like rent, food, transport, and heating. Unlike the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage, which are set by the government, the Real Living Wage takes into account the real financial pressures faced by families and individuals.

At The Red Hen Project, we work every day to support children and families across Cambridge. Our team is central to that mission, and we believe fair pay is essential to valuing the people who deliver this work. Becoming a Real Living Wage employer is one more way we’re putting our values into action.

This accreditation also places us alongside a growing movement of over 14,000 employers across the UK who are choosing to do right by their staff. It’s about dignity, security, and recognising that good work deserves decent pay.

For us, this step is about more than a pay rate, it’s a promise. A promise that we’ll continue to support our team with the respect and fairness they deserve, so they can keep making a difference in our community.
