Belbin - High Performing Teams

Belbin® – The Team Role Company. Improving business performance through more effective and sustainable teamwork

The Gold Standard Team Tool: Improving business results through more effective and sustainable teamwork.

We empower organisations with research-based knowledge, practical tools and actionable advice, to realise the potential of their teams and deliver results.

Belbin Team Role methodology is the result of more than nine years of research into what makes some teams more successful than others.

The research revealed that a team's success was not dependent on intellect, but on behaviour. Nine clusters of behaviours were identified that were critical to the success of a team – the nine Belbin Team Roles.

At Belbin, we provide the knowledge of Team Roles via our Accreditation, and the tools (the Belbin reports) for professionals to realise their teams' potential.

Simply putting together a number of people and expecting them to work as a team is not enough.

Teams are a question of balance. What is needed is not well-balanced individuals, but individuals who balance one another.

Belbin Accredited Team Coaching Programme

Team Coaching is a rapidly emerging field which can bring benefits for both companies and individuals, supporting achievement of both personal development and business goals.

For decades, Belbin has recognised and promoted real teamwork as the crucial link between strategy and business outcomes. Team coaching has long been at the heart of what we do.

An exciting and unique new programme has been developed, the Belbin Accredited Team Coaching Programme to help others understand how to curate team growth, learning and better business performance.

The third intake is currently recruiting, and those on the waiting list will be advised as soon as dates are confirmed. The face to face elements, comprising residential 'CoLabs', will be held in the Cambridge area.

Individual Coaching using Belbin

An online half-day workshop for those looking to add Belbin to their coaching toolbox.

Belbin Team Roles is the language of teams, enabling individuals to project and talk about their behavioural strengths in a productive, safe and non-confrontational way. By using Belbin, individuals have a greater self-understanding of their strengths, which leads to more effective communication between colleagues and managers. Belbin can be a powerful tool to help open up coaching conversations, and to explore strengths and perceptions of others.

This half-day online course is for those of you who already use Belbin, and would like to extend its use in coaching.

Belbin Team Workshops

If you are experiencing problems with particular people or teams, then a Belbin workshop could be the answer.

You may need to gain clarity around objectives or ensure the project team understands what it needs to achieve. Perhaps there is some conflict in the team, or maybe there is a change management programme round the corner. Is hybrid working not quite working? Are team members feeling disengaged due to working from home?

Whatever your reasons, we can help you, and your team.

We look at the issues that are specific to your organisation, and the people within it.  Then, using the Belbin theory, we build a bespoke workshop specifically designed to address the issues that you are facing.

Using a Belbin facilitator ensures that everyone can participate and maximise their contribution. We facilitate sessions with teams at all levels, from boards of directors to new recruits.

Our workshops can be conducted online via the platform of your choice, or face to face.

How might a Belbin Workshop help you?

Workshops are designed to help teams increase their effectiveness and plan for the future.

The purpose of a team-building workshop is to increase communication and effectiveness within the team. The team will have a common language and a framework to discuss their collective strengths and how best to use them. We provide experiential learning that enables the team and its individual members to maximise strengths and contain weaknesses. This improves mutual understanding and enhances communication. It is important to identify each person's contribution and to consider the team’s profile against its short and long-term goals.
