Their presentation, “Investigating Imaging Modalities to Characterize Injection Deposition for Large-Volume Subcutaneous Device Design,” evaluated approaches to observing and characterizing injection deposition in ex-vivo tissue. The work is part of a broader effort to close some of the evidence gaps that still surround large-volume subcutaneous delivery.

Large-volume subcutaneous delivery is a key area of growth as drug developers look for alternatives to intravenous administration in the oncology space. Although pharmacokinetics and in-vivo testing are fundamental, the collaboration showcases what can be achieved with ex-vivo testing. The hope is that these insights will ultimately improve both device design and the patient experience.
