The Gold award has been received under the prestigious annual scheme run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), based on GTC’s outstanding occupational health and safety performance.
Allan Davies, Group Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Manager at GTC, said: “Health and safety is our number one priority but it is always good to receive outside recognition of our hard work and commitment, especially from such a well-respected organisation. The requirements for reaching the Gold award are rigorous, involving a review of comprehensive supporting evidence of safety management systems and performance. The benefit to our staff is clear but the award also benefits our customers in terms of their confidence in our exacting standards.”
The RoSPA Awards, which date back 59 years, recognise commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work. Through the scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “The RoSPA Awards encourage improvement in occupational health and safety management. Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as GTC, contribute to raising standards overall and we congratulate them.”
